I’m taking a class called “Looking at Pop Culture: The Poetics of Television.” We’re basically exploring how television changes the opportunities for narrative.
I watched the first season way back when, but I’ve started to re-do it because I remember so little… That is, after I polish off numero cuatro. I have been the most interested in this one ever since I found out it’s about schoolkids. (Also Aiden Gillen [Petyr Baelish in Game of Thrones] is featured heavily as Tommy Carcetti!!!)

The book, that is. This is a killer scene on its own though— in more ways than one? I’m supposed to watch this entire season before Thursday class. I may actually be able to make it.

the fucking amazing trailer in and of itself of the brand new stop motion movie from Laika, about a little horror fanatic kid who can talk to the dead.
but seriously this is probably the best trailer I’ve seen in ages. It’s so… different but simple, with that sort of really 90’s-esque sounding music playing as a total antithesis to what’s happening, this is amazing.

I’ve seen a couple of trailers lately that don’t do it for me, (in fact, pretty much every blockbuster out there, regardless of subject matter,) but I gotta say that this one took some balls to put out there. You don’t exactly get an idea of the plot, but it looks beautiful and creative. There are tons of ideas on display, and that’s what I like in a trailer.
