#YesAllWomen is important because it teaches people things. The fact that there’s a term, “Attention Dress,” that women can share between each other and understand the meaning of while I’m utterly unaware of its existence speaks volumes.

Opponents of the hashtag say it makes the debate “all about them.” It’s not all about them. It just is them. This is what being a woman is, and men, myself included, are blind to so many parts of femininity. How do we presume to tell them anything about their role in society?

It is kind of compromising freedom of speech because this is a television show. You’re not correcting the woman, you’re correcting the writers who designed this scene. If television, film, books and music  all  tiptoed and danced around every minuscule instance of possible (insert behavior or trait)-shaming out of fear of offending someone as tumblr seems to expect them to do well entertainment and art would go right down the shitter.

a.k.a. “Once hurtful language is excised from popular culture there will be nothing to entertain me!”

oh no dude, you might be forced to check out movies made by minorities and music from countries you can’t pronounce, woe is you, art made by straight white dudes might have to contend with this in the future, apocalyptic flood of tears

It’s also not compromising freedom of speech; it’s criticism, it’s existed since the first terrible cave painting of a buffalo-cock-man was masturbatory for some neanderthals and ignored by others. Contrary to popular belief, feminist critique is not a harpy screeching “you cannot do this, this can’t be allowed“… It’s a harpy politely informing “I am not going to give you money if you keep hurting people because this does not fit with my outlook.”

But no, please, insist on hurting people. Demand that you have the right and then employ it. Try to make folks fucking miserable. I can’t think of a more noble cause.

“And we have some SEX All the TIME!!!!.”

(on the real people post pictures like this on their facebook. Isn’t it reassuring that, even if you’re down on yourself, at least you aren’t really really really fucked up?)

And here’s where I felt like replying to all the recent Public Shaming tweets because the sources would never see my responses (if they haven’t deleted their profiles already) and I want to participate somehow

If you thought these unbelievable reactions to Steubenville would just peter out, I guess you can say you were pretty, pretty wrong.

Part 1.

Part 2.

And here’s part 3:

Yeah! And same to confused hikers who get shot to death by paranoid land-owners. LIL TRESPASSER. (This is a bad analogy and I’m tired. Stick around.)

Maybe if you want to be a human being, you should try getting blackout drunk. Just a thought

Kenni Shane has a lot of insider knowledge about these people (including the girl whose name has not been publicly released, much less a description of her personality, her interest in being raped or her willingness to exchange sex for money [what? if he’s allowed to define whore as “a girl I don’t like” i should be at least allowed to reference the original definition]), has anyone questioned him? Has anyone found this witness to the crime? #ArrestKenniShane

“Clowning” is a wonderful substitution for “raping.” Does it marginalize rape? No, clowns are as bad as rape.

image

Thank god we raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 in 1984, it cut way back on rapes. Hey whoah now we just need to raise the raping age.

image

OKAY BUT WHEN WERE THESE BOYS EVER CHARGED FOR “PLYING ASSAULT?”

image

Don’t worry dude, it’s still sexual assault to record those videos without her consent so no need to feel sick unless you for some reason begin to think about the ramifications of everything you fucking do

image

Well, I finally see a solution that I think everyone here can agree on: if women can’t be trusted to choose drinking safely (much like men cannot choose not to rape), we should ban alcohol. JUST KIDDING I bet nothing would change.

image

I got thrown out of a hotel bar for falling off a table. Nobody has ever held me responsible for that. So men get away with it too and that means everyone gets away with it which means nobody gets away with it which means your take on this means nothing. Thanks anecdotal evidence.

I stood on the subway tracks for fun. I got that drunk. And now I know that I should have died.

NO BECAUSE I DELIBERATELY CHOOSE MY FRIENDS TO MINIMIZE THEIR CLOWN TENDE— RAPIST TENDENCIES. WHAT SORT OF MISERABLE LIFE DO YOU LEAD WHEN YOU HOLD THE FEAR THAT YOUR FRIENDS WILL RAPE YOU. WHO ARE YOUR FRIENDS.

Oh wait, maybe The Cinder Cellar is a girl.

I don’t know if these responses make any sense but they at least capture my feelings maybe

Hate Crime Investigation of the Day: Shaima Alawadi, a 32-year-old mother of five who emigrated from Iraq with her husband 17 years ago, was found severely beaten inside her El Cajon, California home next to a note that allegedly read “go back to your own country. You’re a terrorist.”

Alawadi was rushed to the hospital, but passed away after being taken off life support yesterday afternoon.

Investigators say they believe this was “an isolated incident,” and a hate crime is just “one of the possibilities” they are exploring.

[utsandiego / cnn.]

Really, y’all? ONE of the possibilities? I guess you have to fucking rule out suicide first, huh?
